Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952 is a famous American stage acting, film and television actress. She has received an Academy Award nod for the part she performed on Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. Apart from this character, McDonnell is well known for her role as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica), the president's spouse in Independence Day as well as her leading role as Donnie Darko's mother.
