Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mom has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. In the early age of five her father was appointed as the curator of Strawberry Mansion Section. Strawberry Mansion Section. Her family later moved into this old house. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of singer-music major. Sullivan started singing in contralto with the children's choir. She then sang after a couple of years, she joined the adult choir. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. She relates that she was in her 11th year when someone asked her to sing solos in the church. However, she was not quite ready to go. "I had the privilege of being able to be selected for in a McDonald's contest, where kids from the major cities an opportunity to sing 'Accept that God is God's Will'. The audience responded very well." Stevie Wonder sang her part at the birthday of her son at the age of thirteen. Sullivan aged 15 first got signed by Jive Records. The label initially signed Sullivan to Jive Records in the year 15. She recorded an entire album, but the album didn't get released. Sullivan was then dropped by the label. They had a strong working relationship with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced many of her tracks which included "Backstabbers" the track that was written by Timbaland.
